Frequently Asked Questions


The following are frequently asked questions that our group receives, we hope this list will be useful to you.

If the answer you are looking for is not listed here, please open a HelpDesk ticket and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Information Technology:

  1. Who do I contact with printer problems?
    Open a HelpDesk ticket and to login your request online for service. A technical support staff member will be assigned your case.

  2. How do I request a permanent redirect?
    Submit a HelpDesk request with the old url and the new url.

  3. How do I request a vanity URL?
    Submit a HelpDesk request with the requested vanity URL (it cannot contain capital letters). Allow 3 weeks for the URL to be active.

  4. How do I get a new OU user account?
    Submit a HelpDesk request with the following information:
    • First name and last name
    • Email address
    • Division and folder where the user will be assigned
    • Workflow levels (if needed)

  5. How do I use Qualtrics?
    Follow these steps 

    Important! OIT requires everyone to follow section "APPLYING ACCESS CODE" on the steps above.

  6. What is Skillport?
    The Skillport online learning system provides access to registration for UA instructor led training and webinars as well as web-based courses, books, and other online learning assets designed to enhance professional development. 
    Log in with the following:
    • User name: myBama user name (ex. jsmith)
    • Password: CWID
    • Check the box next to the disclaimer message, then select Login to Skillport.
     

Registration Services:

  1. Does Registration Services accept P-Cards for all of the different types of Registrations that you offer?
    We actually prefer UA employees to make payments with P-Cards instead of a Department Transfer.

  2. Can I get registered for a conference without payment up front?
    No, Registration Services requires payment in the form of Credit Card, Check, Money Order, Wired Money, Purchase Order, or Cash before we can register a participant for any conference or courses.

  3. Will you accept a Copy from the original version of a Department Transfer as payment?
    No, we are required to have the signed original copy of the Department Transfer.

  4. Will you accept a copy of my company's check as a form of a Purchase Order?
    No, we will not accept a copy of a check for registration. We can only accept a valid Purchase Order containing all of the appropriate billing information with a signature from your approving official.

  5. Where do I need to send my check to for an upcoming Conference that I will be attending?

  6. What is the federal tax identification number for The University of Alabama?
    It can be found by clicking here.

  7. Can I register for any of the Online Certificate Programs that your college offers with my GI Bill?
    No, we cannot accept a GI Bill as payment for any of the Certificate Programs that we offer here at this college.

  8. Can I get funding for any of the Online Certificate Programs that your college offers?
    Yes, individuals can receive funding through World Education or if you are a spouse of a current enlisted military personnel then you can receive funding through MyCAA.
