Jonathon Halbesleben

Dr. Jonathon Halbesleben was appointed dean of the College of Continuing Studies at The University of Alabama in May, 2019. Prior to his appointment to the College of Continuing Studies, Halbesleben was senior associate dean and Russell Professor of Business Administration in the Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama since 2015. He joined the University of Alabama as the HealthSouth Chair in Health Care Management in 2010.

Prior to his time at the University of Alabama, Halbesleben worked at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, teaching in the UW Consortium Online MBA Program, and at the University of Missouri, teaching in their Executive Masters of Health Administration Program. Halbesleben has written or edited 13 books and published over 90 peer-reviewed journal articles on topics such as employee well-being (particularly stress, burnout, and employee engagement), work-family issues, and relationships in and out of the workplace. His research has been funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Department of Defense, among others. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Halbesleben holds a doctorate and master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree from Winona State University.
